Provide copyediting and content editing services to book publishers and individual authors. Edit copy for grammar, spelling, mechanics, voice, and consistency according to publisher's style and Chicago Manual of Style. Check content for accuracy and read for logic. Provide suggestions for rewrites. Query editor and author where appropriate. Clients include Better Homes and Gardens Books, Ten Speed Press, F+W Publications (Writer's Digest Books, North Light Books, and Krause Publications), Lark Books, and more.

Freelance Writer 1994-present

Write articles for national and local magazines and newspapers such as Better Homes and Gardens SIP (Kitchen & Bath Ideas, Remodel), Woman's Day Kitchen & Baths, House Calls magazine, Lowcountry Living, The Post and Courier, and others. Ghostwrite nonfiction titles. 

Editor/Writer (part-time) The Post and Courier, Charleston, SC 1997-2001

Wrote features articles. Came up with story topics and themes for supplements. Provided photography.

Editor Creative Homeowner Press, Upper Saddle River, NJ 1990-1993

Responsible for editing books from manuscript to finished product. Edited line by line, checked facts, wrote copy, obtained photography, collaborated on layout, proofread.

Copy Editor The Ridgewood News, Ridgewood, NJ 1989-1990

Wrote feature articles and photographed community events. Prepared copy and created layout for inside pages of local biweekly newspapers. Produced special sections.

Assisted executive editor. Evaluated manuscripts, wrote reader reports, produced editorial bulletins, maintained and organized busy office.
